A woman constable from the Hayathnagar police station was found murdered in Ibrahimpatnam, on Hyderabad outskirts, on Monday (December 2,2 024) morning.
Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Kongara Nagamani, a 2020 batch constable. About six years ago, she entered into an arranged marriage organised by her brother, Paramesh. “However, without filing for a divorce, she later had a love marriage with another man,” said the police. The family dispute escalated over ancestral land. “Her brother insisted she forgo her claim to the property because she married against his will. But she was determined to demand her share,” the police added.
On Monday morning, around 8:40 a.m., while Nagamani was on her way to work, her scooter was struck by a car from behind at Raipole. “The attacker then exited the car and stabbed her to death before fleeing the scene. We suspect Paramesh’s involvement in the murder. Further investigation is underway,” said the police.
