During the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, Kamala Harris’ step-daughter Ella Emhoff and her step-son Cole Emhoff joined their father Doug Emhoff to rally behind Harris in her bid for the presidency.
Harris became a step-mom to Ella and Cole when she married Doug Emhoff in 2014. This was Harris’ first marriage, but it was Doug’s second because he has adult children from his ex-wife Kerstin Emhoff.
According to them, Kamala is called “Momala” by the siblings instead of “stepmom.”
At that time of their wedding, Ella had not yet finished high school while 20-year-old Cole was attending Colorado College where he graduated with a psychology degree in 2017.
Cole is an employee at Plan B Entertainment which Brad Pitt co-founded and which has produced three Academy Award best picture winners, the year 2006’s “The Departed,” 2013’s “12 Years A Slave,” and 2016’s “Moonlight,” plus forthcoming production “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” as well as Netflix projects “The Killer” & “3 Body Problem.”
Cole got married production development manager Greenley Littlejohn according to Elle and Kamala Harris conducted the ceremony.
Ella currently works as a model who wants to make it big in fashion designing. Following studying design and textiles at New York City she caught attention during Biden/Harris inauguration this year with her gem-encrusted Miu Miu coat.
A week later she signed with IMG Models Worldwide and made her debut at Met Gala in 2021 where she also graduated Parsons School of Design.
Ella is also involved in knitting. She even founded Soft Hands Knit Club in New York City, “to explore opportunities in fashion, design, creative consulting and hosting events.”
This makes Harper’s Bazaar recognize her presence among its list of 2023 icons.
In Elle’s 2019 essay, Harris stated that her step-children were named after jazz legends – Cole is a tribute to saxophonist John Coltrane while Ella was named after Ella Fitzgerald.
On Tuesday, the second day of Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama electrified the crowd with an impressive endorsement of Kamala Harris whereas Michelle as a candidate of exceptional caliber gave a speech praising Kamala.
“Kamala Harris is more than ready for this moment. She is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency,” she said.
