Republican Harmeet Dhillon made headlines on Tuesday after she offered ‘Ardas‘, a Sikh prayer at Republican Party Convention in the presence of former US President Donald Trump.
The Indian-American also thanked God for the ‘Chardikala’ spirit witnessed in Trump, describing it as “the tireless and uplifting spirit that is sustained even in the face of violent adversity, like a founding father centuries ago.” This came in the light of assassination attempt on Trump at his rally in Pennsylvania on Sunday.

Born to Sikh parents in Chandigarh, Harmeet Dhillon (54) is a Republican leader and an attorney based in the USA. She was brought up in a rural North Carolina town.
She founded her own law farm — Dhillon Law Group Inc — in 2006.
“I come from a family of Sikh immigrants. I am honored to share with you, my fellow Republicans and guests tonight, a prayer from my faith tradition practiced by over 25 million worldwide,” she said at RNC on Tuesday.
She is also a religious rights lawyer and served as legal adviser to Trump during 2020 Presidential campaign, New York Post reported.

During the post-9/11 wave of xenophobia, as her Republican colleagues advocated for the Patriot Act, Dhillon penned a series of legal memos for the Sikh Coalition. These memos aimed to protect turban-wearing Sikhs from discriminatory profiling, reported SFGATE.
