Daisuke Hori, 40, from west Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture, has a history of sleeping just 30 minutes each day for the last 12 years in order to “double” his life expectancies. For a massive cut of sleep, Hori asserts that he has heightened both the quality of work and the quantity of work done because there are no feelings of exhaustion based on his assertions.

Daisuke Hori, an art lover, painter and even a mechanical designer, cut off sleep to create effective hours in day time. Slowly he managed to condition his brain and body to working normally with only 30 to 45 minutes of nighttime rest. ‘As long as you do sports or drink coffee an hour before eating, you can stave off drowsiness’ – this example is from the South China Morning Post.

Typical day

Daisuke Hori’s work schedule consists of his normal daily activities expanded with work and time spent in the gym during the time he is supposed to be asleep. There was one time that he slept for 26 minutes, and when he woke up, he was def en back feeling great and full of energy.

Health cautions

According to physicians, very short sleep should not be practiced by everyone, as it can have strong ramifications. “Adults should receive between 7 to 9 hours daily,” said Guo Fei, a physician at Huazhong University of Science and Technology Xiehe Shenzhen Hospital as speaking to the South China Morning Post. He added that lack of sleep Daisuke Hori leads to memory loss, immunity decline, psychopathologies, and susceptibility to heart-related diseases.

Hori’s way-of-life was caught on the Yomiuri Japan TV show ‘Will You Go With Me’. The show covered him for three days.

Training more than 2,100 students to become ultra-short sleepers.

In 2016, Daisuke Hori established the Japan Short Sleepers Training Association, and there he teaches courses on sleep and health. I endeavor to explain that workaholics – a doctor or a firefighter – will rather experience high-quality sleep than sleep for a long time. Hori says that until now he has trained about 2100 students to be ultra-short sleepers.

One of his pupils told Yomiuri TV that she managed to go from sleeping eight hours a night to only ninety minutes a night after practicing with Hori. For four years, she has kept to this lifestyle while maintaining the condition of her skin and mental health in excellent condition.

Reactions on social networks

Daisuke Hori’s peculiar sleeping habit has raised a lot of controversy on social networks. Some of them encourage him calling him a time planner and seeking ways to minimize the hours they spend sleeping other people however note health concerns posed. “This is guesting too much into life allowance in borrow! Even if the brain is wide a wake the heart will not take such a beating,” reads one of the comments.

Apart from Hori in India, another person Prahlad Jani has also claimed to have lived without food and without water since 1940, reportedly died at the age of Ninety in 2020, praising self denial with respect to foods.
