Ashwin Ramaswami, a 24-year-old Indian-American, has gained US Senator Jon Ossoff’s endorsement in his candidacy for the Georgia State Senate seat in District 48. Ramaswami is running for the first time to become a Gen Z United States state legislator, and he is doing this as a Democrat running against the incumbent Republican State Senator Shawn Still. Who was arrested on charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 Georgia elections.
Still was indicted together with ex-president Donald Trump regarding Capitol Hill insurrection of January 6, 2021.
In saying that “Ashwin used to be an election security expert. While he is now up against a MAGA politician accused of plotting to steal the election. Which we were part of when Raphael Warnock and I were also running”. Senator Ossoff underscored the sharp contrast between the two contenders.
Senator Ossoff said how much he appreciated it by mentioning some of what Ashwin had done such as improving infrastructure, fighting climate change and reinforcing cyber security in Georgia and emphasized that these gains must be protected from state-level far-right Republicans who would erase them.
Being in charge of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) through its Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC). Senator Ossoff’s backing carries weight.
Who is Ashwin Ramaswami?
He quit working in CISA as an election security officer so that he could run against Still. He has already accumulated over $280000 through his door-knocking campaign — more than any other donations received by his adversary. Should he win, it will make him one of the youngest ever elected representatives in Georgia history along with being the first Indian American to hold this position within the state.

It comprises of individuals born from 1997 to 2012. He graduated from Georgetown University in May and is now focusing on improving access to healthcare as well as housing investments.
