Thursday was a day of noticeable disorientation for president Joe Biden as he attended the only public event of his week, during which he participated in a White House ceremony to honor the Texas Rangers for their world series win. The 81-year old president appeared unsure of how to act as he mixed with team members, requiring an emcee to remind him that it was time to leave.
Having been handed a personalized jersey and cowboy boots by the rangers in the east room, Biden who has had questions about his mental abilities arise, was heard asking “Okay so what do I do next?” As his hands were raised up questionably when he looked around. On this note, once more a military aide approached so as to collect the presents and make him tell him “Are you stealing my jersey?”
The President’s confusion was momentarily dispelled by an emcee who announced; “Distinguished guests and ladies and gentlemen please remain seated as the president is leaving.” He replied with a fake jog before giving a salute reminiscent of ‘soldiers’ salutes on their way out of battle scenes while also greeting some two young fans sited at front row.
This incident only adds fuel to ongoing discussions on whether Biden is fit for office. This followed his withdrawal from presidential race and subsequent support for Kamala Harris as his heir apparent which has been criticized by some leading Republicans as well Democrats.
President Biden withdrew from running after criticism of his performance in debate with former President Donald Trump on June 27 where he stumbled over answers. Meanwhile Harris has gained momentum in polling and now leads Trump nationally.
However, despite such criticisms, Biden’s aides together with Dr. Kevin O’Connor (his physician) have defended his mental acuity both publicly during press briefings but also privately within closed doors meeting rooms where Jean-Pierre told that Karine Jean-Pierre claim noted that Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Joe remained fully capable of leading America.
