Following a tragic accident involving a Singapore Airlines flight, CEO Goh Choon Phong posted an apology video on Wednesday concerning the traumatic experience.
This occurred on Tuesday when turbulence forced Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London’s Heathrow Airport to divert and make an emergency landing in Bangkok. This disturbance claimed one life and resulted in several injuries among the 211 passengers and 18 crew members of the Boeing 777-300ER plane.
Sympathizing with the family and friends of the dead, CEO Goh Choon Phong expressed his heartfelt condolences.“It is with deep regret that we report this incident, which has caused one confirmed fatality and multiple injuries. On behalf of Singapore Airlines, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to them. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” he said.
He further reiterated that they would give full support to passengers and crew.Phong highlighted their main concern which was ensuring that all necessary assistance was offered.”Singapore airlines dispatched immediately a team to Bangkok who are helping people affected by what happened on ground.”
There is a relief plane which arrived in Singapore early this morning carrying 143 fit-to-fly passengers/crew. Nonetheless, there are still 79 passengers including six crew members receiving medical care as well as their relatives remaining in Bangkok.
Also, Phong restated Singapore Airline’s commitment towards providing full support for those impacted while promising itself an investigation collaboration with authorities. “We will continue supporting them accordingly because it is our responsibility as an airline company. The relevant authorities are cooperating fully under investigations,” he repeated himself again.
While navigating through this tough situation, though not mentioned directly here, it should be noted that safety and wellbeing of both passengers and crews have remained their paramount objectives illustrating unwavering dedication by Singapore Airlines to ensuring highest security standards in air travel.
