The BJP has a direct rival in the Samajwadi Party. Is it really a challenger to the status quo?
Yes Sir, for instance Mulayam Singh Yadav was known as Datiputra (Son of the Soil) because he represented our party which has very huge mass base. That is him alone. now his son and party president Akhilesh Yadav seems to be following suit, preaching the party’s ideology and doing what needs to be done by not only being educated and progressive but also down-to-earth.
How about Congress that you represented yourself as Member of Parliament for Unnao in 2009? Now this is your alliance partner.
Congress has lost much ground in recent years, especially in Uttar Pradesh. This may have been due to lack of discipline or control on part of the party leadership. Also, there is another thing; it is an old party after all. The older generation used to battle while young people were full of enthusiasm with an ideological inclination and attachment to the party but it appears like there is no energy left for them anymore.
Did you get someone who asked you to leave Congress that you represented as Member of Parliament for Unnao?
I am impotent help my people. It’s impossible for the congress to fight.
Don’t you think organizational strength or popularity of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath overshadow opposition parties’ efforts?
What happened after 2014 was not due to BJP’s strength but was because one man had been projected as ‘burning up’ Congress and thereby heralding a complete political revolution with corruption taking its last breath,” he said.“What they said does not come from any basis.” However, their claims are unfounded now because their plan has been unmasked. The public knows how the BJP play their politics.
Opposition accuses Bharatiya Janata Party using religion as tool political. How do you feel about this?
We are not against religion. We are very religious. However, for us, religion is about one thing and taking care of people is something else. In India, people are simple minds who believe a lot in God. “The question of “Aastha” (belief) is a huge question”. It is unfortunate that religion has been politicized by politicians. People are poor, desperate; when someone says there will be magic and “Ram Rajya” will come, they fall into it.
Is BJP smarter than the opposition politically?
That’s not smartness. It’s cleverness. This is like using God’s name to achieve your political goals”. I know what people want from the party. If only we could build a temple for Hindus where they can worship this much…a mosque for Muslims where they can pray here this much…and our church for Christians somewhere around there…but apart from that employment and growth to them means everything… but BJP wants to give 5 kg ration to their voters so that their needs as citizens would have been met properly with it.” There is no good message sent to the world when 800 million free rations are given out in order to get these Indians fed.
Why do people look forward to change?
Farmers are facing a dire situation. They do not receive enough money for their produce. The question of stray animals is also another matter that no one minds. They have “gaushalas” in name only, mind you. Education and employment also matter. There are no government or private sector jobs at all.
OR
The farmers’ condition is critical. They lack the right prices for their products. It is another thing about stray animals that no one cares about completely. These have “gaushalas”, but they exist just in namesake of it anyway.? Education and employment are important also.? In government, there are no jobs neither in the private sector.?
