Waking up to the news of a disaster in Wayanad, Kerala due to landslides, Tamil Nadu government has come forward on Monday with three fire and rescue personnel teams, a medical team including doctors, paramedics and support staff and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel that will help in the search for survivors.
M K Stalin appointed G Sameeran and Johnny Tom Varghese as two senior IAS officers representing Tamil Nadu who have been sent to Wayanad to coordinate the relief activities by teams from the state. He also announced that his government would contribute INR 5 Crore towards this cause out of the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
Chief Minister talked over phone with his opposite number Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala and extended possible cooperation by his Government. “Therefore, at this time, Sameeran & Varghese are going to Wayanad along with their rescue/rehabilitation team,” said an official press statement.
Teams are comprised of 20 firemen headed by joint director; 20 SDRF men along with another group of 10 doctors associated with nurses and supporting members. “Leave today for Kerala” directed the CM.
