A Russian TikTok star, Arina Glazunova, has died after falling in an underpass in Tbilisi, Georgia. The 27-year-old was filming a video with friends when she tripped over a knee-high wall at the subway station stairs, leading to a fatal fall. The incident, captured on video, has gone viral on social media and sparked discussions about the safety of the structure.
The video, recorded by Glazunova’s friend on September 27, shows her final moments, during which the TikToker can be seen singing the song “For The Last Time” by the Russian boyband Hunger Boys. While looking at the camera, she failed to notice the edge of the wall and fell headfirst into the underground passage. Her scream was followed by the panicked voices of her friends.
Local media reported that Glazunova was immediately taken to the hospital but succumbed to head injuries and a broken neck. Following her death, a memorial was set up at the site.
After the incident, people expressed concerns on social media, noting that the wall is a hazard, especially difficult to see in the dark. One user commented, “It’s shocking there’s no rail or guard there—just a few inches tall, it’s a tripping hazard.” Another user stressed the need for a barrier, stating, “They need to put some kind of barrier around that, it’s super unsafe.” A third user also called for a ban on TikTok.
According to Tbilisi’s City Hall, the steps and drop were built during the Soviet era and met the safety standards of that time. The city’s mayor, Kakha Kaladze, assured that the underpasses in Tbilisi comply with modern safety standards.
