Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a special Mother’s Day gift – a portrait with his late mother Heraben Patel at a rally in Hooghly, West Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was moved by a poignant gesture during an election rally in Hooghly, West Bengal on Sunday, Mother’s Day, when a man in the crowd waved his and his late mother’s Portrait of Hiraben Patel.
As a token of gratitude, the prime minister asked his special forces commandos to collect the portrait from the couple who had gifted it to them. Addressing the rally, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s year-round reverence for mothers, including Madurga, Makali and Bharat Mata.

Modi arrived in Kolkata on Saturday evening to build momentum for the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal. Modi arrived here from Jharkhand. After landing at the airport, he headed to the Presidential Palace of India via road under tight security. On Sunday, he is scheduled to address election rallies at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district, Panchla in Howrah and Chinsurah and Pursura in Hooghly district.
Addressing a rally in Bengal, the Prime Minister said this Lok Sabha election was about protecting the culture of Bengal, where the TMC believes it has a monopoly. The Prime Minister said that this election is also for the development of the country. He accused the TMC of looting the country and claimed that it had “committed huge crimes”.
