A small aircraft, which was a twin-engine Piper PA-34, went down in the front yard of a home in Roy, Utah on Wednesday afternoon; approximately 30 miles north of Salt Lake City. There were two people in it when it crashed at about 4 pm according to Federal Aviation Administration.
They had minor injuries and their names have not been released.
The crash was caught on someone’s home security video that showed the airplane crashing into the front yard. It reveals some worried locals running to help. The situation resulted in damages to one house and trees nearby but luckily no harm was caused on the ground.
Investigations are being carried out by both FAA and NTSB to understand what caused the plane accident. The first report is expected within one month according to NTSB.
His wife called him upon learning about the incident while inside with their children as Anthony Baugh recalls. Baugh said after watching his phone’s security camera footage, “I had seen the video footage of the plane kind of sliding towards my house.”
He hurried back home afraid that his family may be injured or dead.
The lady offered water but both declined because they were in shock as Baugh described them. He added that there was a cut located above or at an eye level for this man. Baugh thanked God for saving his family noting how lucky he had been especially since his loved ones died from another plane crash before years ago.
“My eldest one, he was a little shook up a little bit, we had some family members passed away in a plane crash a few years ago so it was a little nerve wracking,” he said. “I don’t know how many people out there are religious but there were plenty blessed people here,” Baugh concluded.
