Dog Surfing World Championships took place on the California coast where it all began and brought together gifted dogs who are surfers and their owners. The competition is a charity event that witnessed numerous dogs taking to the waves over the weekend.
These dogs didn’t ride giant barrels like at the Olympic Games in Tahiti, but they put up impressive displays that had fans cheering at Pacifica’s World Dog Surfing Championship, California. In a relaxed contest about 15 dogs enjoyed themselves stylishly and rapturously surfing across water on surfboards.
TCB Café Publishing started dog surfing in 2006 under the name “Small Wave Surf Dog Competition.” It was author of “The Dogs Guide to Surfing” who first presented this idea. With the help of a Southern Californian hotel they organized an opening ceremony in Loews Coronado hotel San Diego. As a result, similar competitions happened worldwide including countries such as California, Florida, Australia, United Kingdom etc.
Now TCB café publishing is expanding its surf dog competition into an international series inviting local surf groups, dog and pet organizations and fans to join them in competing for the world surf dog champion title.
