The former chief minister of Tripura and member of the Polit Bureau (PB) for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), Manik Sarkar, on Sunday held back from commenting on the number of seats INDIA bloc may win during Lok Sabha elections. He mentioned that he is waiting for the actual results to be declared on June 4.
Responding to exit poll projections, he told reporters that INDIA leaders came up with their own figures based on surveys in each state. While not disputing the numbers displayed by exit polls, he stressed “INDIA leaders have their own projections.”
He also admitted that in election democracy one party will win and another party will lose. According to him, everyone is looking forward to June 4th when the actual results will be announced.
In some places, the ruling BJP has found joy from exit polls as its members celebrated predicted results. State party president Rajib Bhattacharjee boldly stated that his party would secure all 400 seats indicated by exit polls in Lok Sabha.
This was said without any doubt or hesitation about winning both Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura with a big margin.
However, Congress leader and former Minister Sudip Roy Barman denounced exit poll organisers and accused them of being bribed into confusing voters with manipulated vote counting process. He added that what has been aired on television channels regarding this poll’s outcome would turn out to be exactly opposite.
