A mobile food safety camp arrived at Boyyapati Madhavarao Street in Vijayawada on Tuesday with a food safety officer that inspected residents’ water samples.
On Tuesday, Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, the commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) visited different areas of the city including Patamatavari veedhi, Gummadi Veedhi, Atluri Parvatamma Veedhi, Water Tank Road and Ashramam road Moghalrajpuram among others following several cases of reported diarrhea to inspect drinking water supply.
Similarly, Mr. Pundkar went to the Moghalrajpuram water tank to find out if it was being cleaned and him after going around he talked with some people living there. The corporation has initiated an awareness programme about the importance of boiling water before consumption.
The Commissioner also directed the officials concerned to conduct door-to-door surveys to identify and rectify any issues related to water supply.
A press release from VMC said extra staff would be deployed for comprehensive surveying and addressing concerns raised by residents. It said that wherever required pipelines will be cleaned for system maintenance which ensures quality service delivery.
