Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar sparked controversy when he slapped a Congress worker during the Haveli campaign. The video went viral.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday condemned Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar after a video of him allegedly slapping a Congress worker during campaigning in Haveli district went viral.
The incident was captured in a viral video depicting Shivakumar campaigning for Congress Lok Sabha candidate Vinoda Asooti in Savanur town. In the video, Shivakumar appears to be getting out of a car, surrounded by workers. A Congress worker tried to touch Shivakumar’s shoulder, leading to Shivakumar slapping him. After the incident, police intervened and Shivakumar walked away.
“This is not the first time”
BJP IT unit chief Amit Malviya condemned the incident and shared the video on social media and criticized Shivakumar’s behaviour. Malviya highlighted previous incidents of Shivakumar’s alleged aggression against Congress workers.
Karnataka DCM DK Shivakumar slapped Congress MP Allauddin Maniar while campaigning in Savanur town in Haveli. This is not the first time DK has attacked congressional staff. His crime? When DK Shivakumar got out of the car, he happened to put his hand on Shivakumar’s shoulder.
“I want to know why congressional staffers even want to work for Congress? Their leaders slap them, humiliate them, deny them tickets to games (all cornered by their families)… is it for the corrupt money they make on the side? No Self-esteem? He added.
‘Congress’ Nawabi mentality’
Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also posted a post on X attacking the Congress. Now, DK Shivkumar has slapped a Congress worker. Nawabi mentality of Congress. Congress ki pehchaan – janta aur worker ka apman. Imagine what they will do after the election if they are like this before the election! Threaten voters, insult them, defeat them. Muhabbat ki Dukan!!?? ECI please take action,” he wrote.
