The viral “hawk tuah” phrase of Haliey Welch might be going down the drain with her 15 minutes of fame after a poor reception at Rock The South Festival in Alabama. According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old internet sensation, known for coming up with her eccentric word for oral s#x when spit is used as part of it, met an unenthusiastic audience over the weekend.
As Warren Zeiders and Jelly Roll took to the stage, Welch made an introduction by yelling out “Let’s hear it for Warren Zeiders and Jelly Roll!” Nonetheless, there was no excitement from the crowd towards Haliey’s showiness and lots of people conjectured about her diminishing popularity.
“Social media trolls wrote off Welch’s trendiness as a one-day wonder. Ugh, can we be done with this girl now,” added one Internet user posting online. “I think people are over her already,” added another person. “She was June. This is July. Time’s up,” opined yet another.
“Therefore, the viral flame can burn out in an instant,” said another commentator. Others basically repeated these sentiments saying that “She was funny for a minute but this is just stupid now,” and “Honestly it was overdone after the third time hearing it. Time to move on.”
Welch still had some fans who supported her despite all these negative reactions. ’’She’s much better to watch than the political bulls we’ve been looking at. More Hawk Tuah,’’ wrote one fan on social media sites while praising their idol’s video content. “Another showed respect for how she capitalized on fame that came suddenly into her life; What I think is dope is she’s actually shown she’s a good person and done a lot with her 15 minutes of fame compared to others we keep making famous for some ungodly reason.”
Her journey into stardom has included a remarkable feature at one of Zach Bryan’s shows and a tour in New York City that led to her career management by The Penthouse. As per The Hollywood Reporter, she was being paid $20,000 per appearance with her management team working around the clock to make sure that she is aligned with the right projects.
Talking about Welch’s career, Jonnie Forster who founded The Penthouse said, ‘‘We’ve been working around the clock to align Haliey with the right projects for her blossoming career.”
Welch recently collaborated with Jax Writes Songs, a celebrity TikTok musician, which made them launch a small jingle explaining what “hawk tuah” means. In this regard, following an attack on her appearance at Jake Paul‘s boxing match by tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios she responded saying she doesn’t care about haters. “I don’t wake up and hate on anybody else, I don’t understand why people do that,” she told TMZ. “They have their own opinion, they’re entitled to it, I don’t care what they think. At all.”
