One person has been reported missing in a landslide that hit Vilangad area of the Kozhikode district in Kerala on Tuesday morning, even as the state’s Wayanad district is reeling from landslides triggered by torrential rainfall.

The Malayangad bridge was destroyed while four houses along the riverbank were partially damaged. Consequently, 15 households are cut off but no deaths have occurred.
People who live next to the rivers were moved to safer places
Another slide came down on Kaithapoyil-Anorammal-Valliyad road burying over an estimated length of 80 meters under debris causing seven families residing therein evacuated.
Further more, at Pashukadav area of Kuttikkad Maruthonkara village located in (Vilangad) Kohzhikode district there are several land slide cases that occurred. Inundation of streets and houses and shops submerged due to floods caused by rains.
Thus inhabitants had to be relocated temporarily from some areas like Preakkandod, Mukkam, Peetikappara which are near Kadantara river as its level soared threatening their lives.
Rising water levels prompted the opening of two shutters of Kakkayam Dam up to four feet sequentially.
