On Monday July 1, 2024, an old lady was casting her postal vote in a ballot box that had been brought to their home by Election Department officials at Pappanapattu panchayat in Vikravandi.
In Villupuram district’s Vikravandi assembly constituency, there was a byelection on July 10. The Election Department commenced the home voting/postal ballots process, which allowed people above the age of 85 years and those with disabilities to participate in this election.
C. Palani, District Election Officer and Collector stated that Electoral Commission of India has introduced the option of voting-from-home for a total of 567 voters including senior citizens numbering 290.
On Monday July 1, 2024; teams comprising zonal officer/micro-monitoring officer/videographer/and concerned booth officers visited door-to-door visits and set up makeshift ballot units. The exercise will run through until July three across Vikravandi assembly constituency.
In case an elector is not available during the first visit of the team, they will do it again on July three. Those voters who have submitted their Form No:12 D should make use of this facility and cast their votes.
While NTK has also fielded its candidate, DMK’s rival party is PMK in this contest. For boycotting the by-poll AIADMK has taken its decision.
