In the year 2023, Vikrant Massey became more popular after the success of his last movie “12th Fail”. That is why his fans are eagerly waiting for his next film “The Sabarmati Report” to hit the cinema. The film was supposed to be out on May 3 but its release got postponed till August 2. Therefore, Vikrant’s fans and lovers may have to wait a little bit longer. According to insiders, it has been pushed even further back.
A source said, “The makers are looking at a new release date,” adding that the film will now come out in September or October 2024. Within a week or two, the producers will announce the fresh time when it hits cinemas. The exhibitors of this movie will also be notified about its being shelved.
Only few days ago, Ajay Devgn-starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was announced by Bollywood Hungama as having been shifted from July 5 to August 2 as its original arrival date in theaters. However, such an arrangement would have meant there would be three films released on first Friday of August because Janhvi Kapoor’s Ulajh is slotted for an open in theaters on August 2nd too.
Apart from Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra have acted in The Sabarmati Report along with him. It is a political thriller about two journalists who probe the incident where Godhra’s Sabarmati Express train caught fire while travelling on February 27th, 2002. It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor and co-produced by Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan while directed by Ranjan Chandel.
First reported in April 2024 that The Sabarmati Report would not make it to theatres on May 3. “The Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) Examining Committee saw the film and had objections to certain scenes. Also, fearing that it might violate the model code of conduct as laid down by the Election Commission of India, it has been advised that it should be released after the last phase of elections, which will take place on June 1,” a source told us.
