Vicky Kaushal is a Bollywood actor who has made a name for himself in films by playing roles that captivate his audience. This year, on his birthday, the fans and moviegoers will have more to rejoice about.
Masaan was Vicky Kaushal’s first major film after making his acting debut as a minor character in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur
Many people know Vicky as the first movie he featured in was Masaan which got him a lot of accolades back in 2015, yet this did not mark off his career. He had made an appearance before that where he had been given a small role in Gangs of Wasseypur, one of Anurag Kashyap’s renowned movies.
In one iconic scene at a brothel Nagma Khatoon (Richa Chadha) and Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) are having an argument. In an interview with Mid Day, Kaushal shared how he bagged the part revealing that some junior artists were initially signed up but backed out when they realized it was set at a brothel.Vicky himself filled up their void since during this time he joined the movie crew on an assistant role. “I’m that silhouette you see overacting behind the window grille when Nagma Khatoon is cursing Sardar Khan” he hilariously recalled.
He also worked with Kashyap even after that; subsequently helping him to make Raman Raghav 2.0 released in 2016. It is amazing how far Vicky has come from being an assistant director to becoming lead himself for successful films like URI: The Surgical Strike, Raazi and Sam Bahadur thereby proving his mettle.
Soon we’ll be seeing him next in Bad News directed by Anand Tiwari alongside Tripti Dimri Ammy Virk and Neha Dupia.
