On August 2, the Union Home Minister spoke to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister on phone to know about the state’s relief and rescue operations which were being undertaken due to heavy rainfall in various parts of the state.
In a post on X, Mr. Dhami informed that several operations were being carried out in war footing mode in the affected areas, which were clearly explained to Mr. Shah.
Mr. Shah also thanked Mr. Dhami for taking care of this situation by guaranteeing all plausible assistance.
He said , “When we face such difficult times our leader stands with us strong like this; it gives strength to all. Heartiest thanks for your guidance Honorable Home Minister,” as quoted by a tweet from Mr. Dhami
Rain-related incidents killed 14 people in various parts of these states during Wednesday night alongside extensive damage to roads and bridges by Tehri as well Rudraprayag districts- where many unnamed pilgrims are still stuck along the trail leading up towards the Kedarnath shrine.,
To expedite evacuation efforts, IAF’s Chinook helicopters and MI17 took part in Friday’s ongoing rescue operation enroute Himalayan temple.
The pilgrimage to Kedarnath has been temporarily suspended due to safety concerns for its devotees.
