With heavy rain affecting different parts of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and District magistrates to remain vigilant after getting information from the officials.
The Chief Minister has also called upon persons to limit movement whatever is not necessary within the said timeframe. Some southern districts in the state have been placed on a red weather alert while other areas on an orange weather alert by the India Meteorological Department IMD.
From the IMD it is expected that the depression which is currently lying over the north western part of uttra pradesh, would move north north west and weaken into a well marked low pressure area in the next 12 hours period. This system located around bareilly would funnel broken to scattered clouds over southern Uttarakhand and neighbouring state of Uttar pradesh with ‘heavy convection’ activity.
‘Moderate to intense convection’ will also be prevalent over the remaining parts of North Elkhart, east Rajhastan and north western Madhya Pradesh. These areas will also likely experience some amounts of rain and wind.
While we have these weather updates, incessant rains within Nainital district have resulted to road obstruction. The Haldwani-Sitarganj road has been blocked at the moment owing to overwhelming amount of water within the Shernala regions. Local residents, travellers, and drivers are cordially requested to seek other routes for their journeys and do so only when it is safe.
