Kamala Harris, who is also the US Vice President and Democratic nominee, attacked her rival Donald Trump on the Russia-Ukraine war and was clear that if Trump was president, Putin would be in Kyiv because a dictator would eat him up for lunch.
Trump was asked during Tuesday’s presidential debate if he solicited Ukraine to defeat Russian forces in the war. He answered that he wanted to win the conflict, there was no need for further fighting, and people should be preserved.
“I want the war to end and want to save people,” Bowe said refusing to give any such bias about Ukraine or Russia. And if I am not mistaken, America is paying much more than Europe in this regard.
When replying to his charges, Harris noted that she has a strong bond with the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. “Our NATO allies appreciate it so much that you are not the president anymore,” she said to Trump.
“I think Donald Trump says this war would be over in 24 hours because it’s in Trump’s mind and he would surrender If you want to why do you need to go to central Kyiv to fight, currently if Trump was president Putin would be sitting in Kyiv.” Harris announced
“I think it is safe to say that if he were in Kyiv right now, which he is, his eyes would be on the rest of Europe beginning with Poland,” Harris echoed, rhetorically asking, “What rational person thinks that for the sake of advancing a favor or a friendship, what you would consider a friendship with a hungry dictator, you would be willing to abandon, how quickly…”.
In that argument, Trump stated that it was Harris that was before Ukraine military operation, discussing matters with Putin. Or in Trump’s words, “Yes, peace was the goal – and it was Harris who went on the ‘peace mission’ just before they started the conflict”.
“Her call was peace and before this war started they had to take some action to remove her call for peace,” Trump said of Harris. “Three days later he went into Georgia and started the war because everything they said was very well inadequate and very stupid”.
Trump believed that Harris was unable to achieve any effective resolution with the Russian invasion of Ukraine being the endpoint. He hinted that it was this perception of weakness and lack of strategy seen in Harris and the administration during these negotiations that made those military plans in Putins mind come to fruition.
When moderator David Muir asked Harris if she has met with Putin, Harris replied: “Let me tell you, I said at the very outset of the debate, This is one fella where you are going to hear a whole lot of lies. And this is another one.” Harris, when attending the hearings, said that there is a Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom she has met several times.
“What it has been about, to be honest, has been where America ought to be in the first place. At the forefront, defending international standards and order. That enjoying and demonstrating power oneself with an ideology that the systems of alliances we have across the globe rest on our capability to protect our compulsion to love dictators instead of the stability that comes with democracy. And so that’s very much what’s at stake here,” Harris said.
