Among those figures associated with Donald Trump’s administration, Kash Patel evokes both interest and controversy. As The Atlantic reports, after his appointment in 2019, the legal professional with little experience of government at 40 years old, grew quite fast in the Trump administration which some officials found troubling.
One of those appointments came quickly after the President’s 2020 election loss when Patel was give the position of the chief of staff to the acting Secretary of Defense which several insiders regarded as premature. As per another article in The Atlantic, the Joint Chief of Staff Chief Mark Milley did admonish Patel against illegal activities to keep Trump in power. Patel denies these allegations.
The Atlantic cautioned though that Patel could be in line to take up positions like the deputy director of the FBI and even the CIA, such plans met massive traffic obstructions. Attorney General Bill Barr supposedly told the chief of staff in the White House, “Over my dead body,” while CIA Director Gina Haspel insisted on quitting the agency.

During the course of the Patel’s work at the Office, he shifted from the National Security Council to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and afterwards to the Department of Defense which placed him in a powerful position.
