Samajwadi Party members were detained by police during their demonstration against the Central Government’s decision to cancel UGC-NET 2024 exam, in Lucknow on June 20, 2024.
On June 20, Ministry of Education officials stated that no complains regarding the examination had been received a day after it was cancelled but a suo motu action was taken by them based on the input available to them for the sake of the students.
Regarding this issue, Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary in Education ministry said that details of these inputs cannot be shared as the matter is now with CBI and under investigation.
“There were no complaints but information from various agencies indicate that exam has been compromised. This is why we took afresh action suo moto to protect pupils’ interests”; Mr. Jaiswal said.
Mr Jaiswal told journalists: “So we will be announcing another date very soon”
Today (Wednesday) according to sources, The ministry canceled UGC-NET conducted by National Testing Agency due to doubts over its integrity.
This comes amidst a huge row over alleged irregularities in NEET medical entrance exams with Supreme Court seized of the matter.
