The mobile network operator in several sections of Udaipur stopped working for a day while all schools were closed after a 10th grade student attacked another boy in one of the government institutions causing interfaith conflict.
“According to officials, the injured student is admitted at the district hospital and the accused is now detained by police. Both are minors,” they said.
“The decision to close down all government and private schools in Udaipur has been taken due to law and order reasons until further notice,” said Collector Arvind Poswal.
“For this reason, a team of three doctors was sent from Jaipur to Udaipur using a special flight for treatment of the injured child,” the Collector said adding that his condition was stable.
Today Rajendra Bhatt, Divisional Commissioner suspended the internet services on mobile phones for 24 hours with effect from 10 p.m. Friday (August 16) in Udaipur city, Bedla, Badgaon, Bleecha, Debari, Eklingpura, Kanpur, Dheekli and Bhuwana area; The collector requested citizens not to pay attention to unfounded information regarding that event on social media channels.
Following Friday’s stabbing incident outside a government school at Bhattiyani Chohatta people threw stones and set fire to cars. Curfew has been declared in this area since then prohibiting any assembly of individuals.
Protests by some Hindu organizations took place near Madhuban against this act; “A few vehicles were torched as well as stones were thrown at them”, police reported.
In evening stores at Bapu Bazar, Hathipole, Ghanta Ghar and Chetak Circle areas were shut down due to rising tensions. Also some ruffians smashed glass doors of shops after pelting stones onto a shopping mall. Additionally more policemen have been deployed so as to ensure safety within town locations.
