Typhoon Shanshan struck the southwestern region of Kagoshima in Japan as it made its way eastward on the evening of Thursday. The typhoon, classified as ‘very strong’, made landfall in the city of Satsumasendai at around 8 o’clock, said the weather officials.
NHK reports that Shanshan came with heavy rain and strong winds which was about 800 millimeters in forty eight hours with more of rain forecasted for Friday in Kyushu Yamaguchi Prefectural and Shikoku Region.

The presence of an upper level low pressure system with mid level troughing continuously maintains the difficulty of monitoring the steers of the cyclone.
