Two poachers were nabbed by the Kotapalli police, Mancherial district and a leopard skin was confiscated from them.
A duo of bike-riding sellers was caught by police after receiving a tip-off when they reached Rapanapalli village in Kotapalli mandal en route Mancherial with the leopard skin.
Among the arrested suspects are Durgam Pavan, 31, and Babar Khan, 42, both hailing from Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
According to police officers, Pavan allegedly killed a leopard in Bodagutta forest area in Bijapur district two years ago; for all these years he had hidden away its skin somewhere around this forested area.
While he and his accomplice were on separate bikes heading towards Mancherial to peddle the skin to buyers they were intercepted by cops along with him.
The leopard’s hide confiscated was immediately handed over to the forest department authorities who will take appropriate action against both under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
