The incident happened in Kasaragod district where a car plunged into a river.
Two occupants of an automobile had narrow escape falling off into watercourse during their passage through forest by car within Kasaragod district of Kerala on 27 June in the morning.
On that day, Asreef aged 36 from Pullur and his friend Abdur Rasheed (35) from 7th Mile were riding an Ambassador car from Kanhangad to Uppinangadi in Karnataka when it fell off the Palanji old bridge en route the jungle road which connects Kuttikol with Pandi.
Due to heavy water flow over the bridge and no hand rail, Asreef and Abdur Rasheed could not locate the edge and drove into the river wherein their vehicle got completely covered by water
After getting out of their vehicle, they held onto a tree above them in the river.
The police were contacted before a fire department team arrived along with Adoor police force at the accident spot.
Residents too joined efforts that resulted in securing or tying up one end of a rope for safely retrieving these men.
