The Human Rights Forum (HRF) will be organising its two-day 10th State Conference of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on December 14 and 15 at the Ambedkar Bhavan in Sai Nagar of Anantapur district. HRF activists from both the States will be participating.
HRF AP and Telangana State Coordination Committee members VS Krishna, S Jeevan Kumar, V Vasanthalakshmi, and A Chandrasekhar said the conference will begin with a welcome address by Dr Geyanand, former MLC and Conference Reception Committee convenor, on December 14 (Saturday).
Later, the HRF general body of both States will assemble, discuss and review work done over the past two years and formulate rights activity for the coming two years. The general body will also elect new State Committees for both States as well as members of the AP and TG Coordination Committee for the next two years.
In the evening, a rally would be taken from Ambedkar Bhavan which would culminate at Saptagiri Circle.
The second day conference on December 15 is open for all and there will be talks on three aspects. They include talk by SN Sahu, social commentator and OSD to former President KR Narayanan on the topic ‘Why we need a Caste Census,’ independent Journalist Malini Subramaniam on ‘Human Rights violations in Bastar,’ and noted writer Kopparthi Venkata Ramana Murthy on ‘NEP 2020: Saffronisation, Corporatisation.’
On the occasion, the HRF will release four publications which include HRF’s 18 th Bulletin, Citizens report on Bastar titled ‘Bastarlo Bhadratha, Abhadrathala Pai Poura Nivedika’ (Citizens report on Security, Insecurity in Bastar), `Rajyam, Matham, Kulam’ by K Balagopal, and ‘Commission Nivedikalu, Samajika Nyayam’ by K Balagopal.
The HRF appealed to all the democratic sections to attend the open meet on December 15.
