On Monday (September 30, 2024), an officer revealed that police had arrested two persons for allegedly attacking and abusing the medical staff of the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital (CNMC) in Kolkata.
“The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday (September 29, 2024) when a patient along with his family members reached the hospital with an injury on his hand,” the officer said.
It all started when a family member accompanying the patient who had come in for an injury examination was contending with the interns at the emergency unit of the hospital for the prescription of the surgery which was quite evident that all the family members and the patient herself did not want to accept but were adamant arguments for all other scope of treatment instead.
Tell the officer: “The doctors started receiving slurs followed with physical contact after the patient was not handled in any other way than how was intented. “
“An FIR was lodged with the Beniapukur police station and acting on it two persons were arrested,” he said adding.
