In Virginia, Donald Trump during a campaign rally celebrated his performance in the first 2024 presidential debate against Joe Biden. Trump argued that the upcoming one was not about whether or not Biden could “survive a 90-minute debate” but it is imperative to note that Americans have to survive another four years of his presidency.
Trump’s speech included various lies about abortion, immigration, climate change and the 2020 election among other issues. He warned Biden, “the country doesn’t want you,” and also said “get the hell out of here” to him.
According to Trump, Biden was not dropping out of the race for presidency yet. “After what happened last night many people are saying this morning that Joe Biden won’t be running for president, I don’t believe that,” Trump stated.
Biden got everything he wanted including rules; date; network and moderators for the debate. This makes it look like he was trying to manipulate how the debate would go in his favor.
He further painted a gloomy picture of America by repeating untruths about doctors who kill babies after they are born and made baseless claims stating immigrants take jobs away from Blacks and Hispanics. Increasing seawater levels were dismissed as an opportunity for him to own waterfront property while global warming according to him was said to be alright. In addition, Trump also boasted about his knowledge in weaponry and warned that World War III could happen any time soon.
To this reminder by Biden regarding Kelly’s (Trump’s former chief of staff) statement where he referred to dead soldiers as suckers and losers, Mr.Trump refuted saying John Kelly is a very stupid individual among all others he work with calling him ‘’a lost soul.’’
On the other hand, at a competing rally in North Carolina, Biden tried to put his debate performance into perspective by admitting that age has caught up with him making him incapable of debating as good as he was before. However, he stressed that he always tells the truth, distinguishes right from wrong and carries out his duties as a president.
