According to Trump, a Christian, the belief in God escalated after going through the ordeal of narrowly escaping death: ‘I was almost shot in the head,’ as he told Fox News host Mark Levin. “If you already have faith in God you have even more faith in God.”’
When asked why he thinks he survived the attack at the Pennsylvania rally in July, Republican presidential candidate Trump replied: ‘Because I would like to believe that God wants me to save this country. This country is so sick and it is so broken. It is broken and perhaps that is precisely why; I am not sure.”
Back some time ago when everyone was speaking about the shooting also Trump stated to the reporters that we “wasn’t supposed to be here” and that he was “supposed to be dead.” Saying “By luck or by God, many people I am still here,” as quoted by The Guardian.
In the Sunday interview, Trump also talked about how various experts regarded the shooting.
Speaking to my children, particularly those who are experts in shooting, I asked them whether anyone could have missed the demised from that distance given the nature of firearms. Trump said, ‘I think he was hurried and rushed because people started noticing there was a guy up there with a gun.’
Host Levin stated that the fact that the shooter was situated on the roof was shocking to him and made him want to go, ‘Crazy’.
Trump did not hide his admiration over the efficiency with which the Secret Service acted, saying, ‘To his great good fortune, he was taken out quickly. Otherwise, it could have been like what happened in Las Vegas, if a crazy guy shoots into a crowd of people from a hotel with a rifle.’
