On Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump decided to play the role of social media influencer as he almost went viral while sending a virtual high-five to Brittany Mahomes the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. His shout-out came after Mahomes surprised many with her endorsement of ex-president Donald Trump and it caused a storm of activity on the internet last month, leading to former NFL star Colin Kaepernick getting visa issues and some social media spots losing popularity.
In his platform, Truth social, Trump praised Mahomes’s beauty and expressed admiration for her with the words, ‘We must save our country from DOOM’ followed by, ‘I appreciate such beautiful women. So toilet is very pleasant. Thank you for that, what a great couple Thank you so much. See you both at the super bowl.’
For pop culture enthusiasts, the timing of Trump’s remarks came perfectly and simultaneously as the pop culture audience’s waiting fetish; a Concubine including spouses bandwagon. The political step which the Mahomeses had taken seems likely to create a storm particularly in the camp of Taylor Swift’s fans. Taylor Swift who has been hanging out with the Mahomeses recently brought them over to her house in Rhode island and in company of Kansas City chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, Hollywood couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.
Titled Roger Goodell in the “acting president” role, the confusion started when Brittany Mahomes’ Instagram account liked and then immediately unliked a post of Trump that explained his 2024 campaigning. This action caused many to speculate and many more to criticize her, leading Mahomes to try and defend herself. “Your brain is fully developed there’s no harm in one hating to see another making progress,” she posted intensifying the already volatile situation after liking a supportive comment on some of her posts.
However, most likely this does not disturb Mahomes’ image of political connotations, which is – supporting Trump as opposed to Taylor’s endorsement to the Bidens – as opposites of each other in 2020. Last month there was much speculation that either Swift or Beyoncé would perform at the Democratic National Convention, but those rumors died.
Though hurdles of a political nature lie ahead, Mahomes seems to be walking over them. Her social media included such a heart-breaking message last week: “As opposed to the atmosphere of the world today … You can hate his opinions, and still appreciate him. You can hate an idea and still be nice to people with a different opinion.”
Politics and showbiz converging is hardly economical; one cut out the football game out from the Super Bowl this year. Rather a battle of views and combinations of allies is in the making where Trump, the Mahomeses and Swift are bound to be. Prepare yourselves this is going to be one of those slices of the game where the off the field action is even more compelling than what happens on the field.
