Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention saw Stephanie Grisham, the press secretary under Donald Trump, jolt her former employer while endorsing Kamala Harris from the platform. During her speech, Grisham who occupied the position of White House Press Secretary between July 2019 and April 2020 revealed how she transformed from a firm Trump loyalist to a vocal opponent.
Grisham accused Trump of lacking morals and derided his supporters behind cameras as supposedly calling them “basement dwellers”. She informed listeners of an important event following Capitol riots on January 6th where she urged Melania Trump to tweet in support of peaceful demonstrations. According to this media personality, when Melania refused to do so, she felt it was high time for her resignation.
“I wasn’t just a Trump supporter; I was a true believer. I was one of his closest advisers,” Grisham said in her address. He sneers at his followers when they are not watching; he refers to them as basement dwellers. Which shows he has no empathy or moral compass and does not care about truth”.
The other thing that Grisham mentioned was what happened on January 6th saying “I asked Melania if we could at least tweet that while peaceful protest is the right of every American citizen. There’s no place for lawlessness or violence.” The response she got from Melania was “No.” Thereafter, immediately after these words were spoken by Melania Trump: “No”. Grisham became the first senior among staff in President’s team since beginning the duties who resigned because of Capitol Hill scandal.
“Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects American people and this is why I will vote for her,” continued Greshman who added that my country comes before party matters.
This convention had one peculiar thing that made it stand out as it allowed few Republicans in such event including Stephanie Greshman. Before giving this talk, the 48 year old mother of two called on Republican voters to join her in ensuring that Trump never returns to the White House. “I would have never thought I’d speak at a democratic convention,” said Greshman. “But having seen for myself who Donald Trump really is and how much of a danger he poses to our country, I feel very strongly about speaking out.”
