“Guilty”. On Friday, as USA digested the conviction of Donald Trump, its ex-president for the first time in history, he attacked the judge and called into question the entire criminal proceeding.
In a 33-minute speech that was all over the place, Trump referred to the trial as “rigged” speaking at his first news conference since a Manhattan jury found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying records to hide a sex scandal. He made some false statements about the case and what went down in court.
Trump stated he would appeal against this decision and accused those who testified against him during his seven-week trial in particular Michael Cohen his former fixer being star prosecution witness saying it made him really mad with anger. He also said that he “got very angry” with his lawyers. Trump called Judge Juan Merchan “the devil”. These remarks were made by him inside Fifth Avenue’s gilded Trump Tower. However, Melania, his wife remained silent through out her appearances since being convicted but her son Eric and daughter-in-law Lara walked up beside him.
On Thursday too, outside court President Trump argued that this verdict was neither fair nor impartial due to politics. In his view, not hiding payouts to an adult film actress but “our whole country is being rigged” and “has gone to hell,” says otherwise I am guilty. “Millions and millions of people, pouring into our country right now, from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists,” he said. “And they’re taking over our country.” Conversely, according to trump “I’m a very innocent man: I’m fighting for our country.” In fact New York jury could never have acquitted me in any event-“They were Democrats.”
