The Secret Service called measures they implemented ‘textbook’ after they were able to prevent an assassination attempt against Donald Trump, who is a former president of the United States over the weekend. Politico reported that Ronald Rowe Jr Working Director praised the quick performance of an agent who shot to a suspect even before a weapon was drawn to the open.
“There is nothing wrong with the secret service’s protective modes, and as we have seen, they bear fruit. We witnessed that yesterday,” said Rowe during the press briefing. He remarked that the distance between Trump and the suspect was ‘a couple of hundred yards and several holes away’, and that agents were not even aimed at with shots.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw was clear that the security of Mar-a-Lago which he heads is at its highest, and added his office’s full support. Bradshaw spoke that he had spoken to Trump, who “feels safe.”
Referring to the activities of a secret service fellow, Rowe draw attention to the fact that since the first terrorist act against Trump, there have been a number of notable events that went by without any threat to the president. These events included the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to Washington DC and the Philadelphia presidential debate.
As Rowe states, the attempts on Trump’s life in July in Pennsylvania had left his agents overworked with the aftermath and the additional pressure put on them. ‘To the men and women of the Secret Service — we are redlining them and they are rising to this moment. He said, if I cant assure that my audience unders Sleepless Days In The Secret Service.’ The Secret Service lives with a healthy paradox of a zero-fail mission. Nobody has any drive to fail, but then we’ve done more with less for decades. This goes back many, many decades,” Rowe later added.
On September 27, US Citizen ryan Routh, 58, pleaded guilty to having a firearm, prescribed to a legal gun owner as a felon and with a scrubbed serial number. Mar-a-Lago sans Saparasiya showed Routh in a federal court in West Palm Beach where Judge Ryon Mc Cabe ordered him to be detained without any cash bond until a hearing on 23rd September.
According to authorities Routh might have spent close to 12 hours waiting outside the golf course owned by trump and situated close to the Mar-a-lago resort. This was an impromptu trip and security had taken what Rowe characterize one ‘layered approach’ in the narrative. Although the active paradigm will allow the agency to react to incidents relatively quickly, Rowe pointed out the reason how is it planned to accomplish this needs to be changed from the ‘reactive model’ to the more appropriate ‘readiness model’ and went on to talk about needing more resources.
Routh turned out to be the subject of a tip registered in 2019 and closed in 2020 regarding illegal possession of a firearm. FBI agent Jeffrey Veltri stated they are also probing into Routh’s social media as well as other forms of communications, looking for any pertinent data.
After the gunman incident in Pennsylvania in July that resulted in the death of an audience member, this was the second time an assassination attempt was directed at Trump. Steven Greer faced a lot of pressure during this time from politicians and others which ultimately resulted in the resignation of head Kimberly Cheatle.
