On the 10th of July, 2024, a group of the T.N. Transport and Road Safety Commissionerate staff held a sit-in demonstration at Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in the State.
The protest was organized by Tamil Nadu Transport Department Staff Association members wearing black shirts to voice their seven demands.
According to K. Balasubramanian, who is an association leader, the main goal of this action was to draw attention of people towards their seven demands; including promotion of administrative staff in order to fill vacancies in regional transport offices for example that is one among others, computerizing rather than closing inspection depots and other work such as issues related with issuance of Bharat registration certificates as stated by Government Of India.
They also demonstrated outside the Guindy office housing the state’s Transport and Road Safety Commissionerate.
