Mangalore and Bangalore trains movement were affected on 10th August, 2024 by landslides in Sakleshpur Taluk between Ballupete and Sakaleshpur.

Trains that journey between Bengaluru and Mangaluru are hung up between Alur and Sakaleshpur since last night of Friday, August 9, 2204 as the stretch experienced landslides.
Track was washed out by a landslide between Ballupete and Sakaleshpur, thereby stopping the movement of train. Numerous passengers have been stranded. They have pleaded with the railways officials to make other arrangements for their journey. The railway workers have already commenced the cleaning work which involves throwing away the chaffs.
Having been cleared of debris caused due to land slips, there was a resumption of train movement on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru tracks on 8th August.
Five trains regulated
There has been a stoppage for KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express (16511) at Alur. SMVT Bengaluru – Murdeshwar Express (16585), is stopped at Hassan station.
Murdeshwar-SMVT Bengaluru Express (16586) has been stopped at Sakleshpur. Kannur – KSR Bengaluru Express (16512) has also been regulated at Sakleshpur.
Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Panchaganga Super-Fast Express (16596) has been regulated at Donigal.
According to South Western Railway release, food arrangements made at stations for passengers by staffs. The restoration work is under progress.
As per the release “Senior Officers” from SWR are monitoring it all closely.
