The Telangana police transferred the Jeedimetla Traffic sub-inspector V. Yadagiri and initiated disciplinary action against him for the use of offensive language while on duty on Thursday morning. This followed a video in which he was seen abusing and slapping a lorry driver near Nehru Outer Ring Road, Gandi Maisamma that went viral.
“An incident happened within the jurisdiction of the Cyberabad Jeedimetla Traffic Limits. Appropriate action has been taken against the Erring officer who is now transferred from that station. We remain committed to serving you 24/7”, Telangana Police said via twitter.
Cyberabad joint commissioner – Traffic D. Joel Davis condemned what he termed as unacceptable language used by this officer and consequently attached him to his office at the police headquarters. “Disciplinary action has been initiated for that official. Currently, there is a memo that has been issued which will be followed by an inquiry after which punishment will be meted out,” Mr Davis said.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) shared the video clip from their official X(f) handle. Consequently, Sircilla MLA of BRS K.T.Rama Rao tweeted saying: “Please remember it is citizens who pay salary to police men & officials. My tweet isn’t just about one incident but have been watching several videos in social media where cops are behaving in highly inappropriate manners with citizens. I hope u conduct sensitisation classes to change behavior of policemen who are directly dealing with citizens.”
