Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud has slammed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for his remarks against the Congress Government. He urged KCR to perform his duties as Leader of the Opposition (LoP) by participating in the Assembly and offering constructive criticism, rather than resorting to baseless propaganda.

In an open letter, which coincided with the completion of one year of Congress governance in Telangana, on Sunday (Dec. 15), the Congress senior leader said, “Telangana’s people, who endured ten years of your [KCR] family’s misrule, now recognise the transformative changes brought about by Congress and will not be swayed by baseless propaganda.”

Mr. Goud criticised KCR’s governance, alleging that it was marked by corruption, inefficiency, and a disconnect from the people. He accused KCR of abandoning the Secretariat for his farmhouse, enabling corruption to thrive, and betraying the aspirations of those who fought for Telangana’s Statehood.

Mr. Goud highlighted KCR’s unfulfilled promise of appointing a Dalit Chief Minister and accused him of exploiting the emotions of Telangana’s people to secure power. He alleged that KCR sidelined main contributors to the Telangana movement and concentrated political opportunities within his family.

The TPCC chief contrasted this with the Congress Government’s achievements in its first year, claiming it had fulfilled promises made in the ‘Warangal Declaration’, including job creation, crop loan waiver for farmers, and welfare schemes for women. Mr. Goud stated that over 54,000 government positions had been filled, loans up to ₹2 lakh were waived for 25 lakh farmers, and crop insurance was introduced.

Mr. Goud also criticised the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, calling it a “corruption-ridden scheme” and blaming KCR for its operational failures. He accused the previous regime of fiscal mismanagement, leaving Telangana burdened with a debt of ₹7 lakh crore.

The letter further attacked KCR’s family members, particularly BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), for allegedly misleading the public and failing to complete key infrastructure projects.
