In West Bengal, there is a surge in cases of mob violence and lynching. In Ariadaha, North 24 Parganas TMC strongman beat up a mother-son duo in recent events. The incident was captured on camera and posted online.
Jayant Singh, the main suspect of the violence case, has gone into hiding without being arrested as yet. They are currently hospitalized where they receive treatment for their injuries.
The Chopra issue happened just two days ago a couple of days back before this one involving JCB who is also known as Tajmul Haque. They were caught beating up a couple walking along Chopra roads due to suspicions that they had extramarital affairs.
On June 30th at Ariadaha when the victim (a student) had an altercation with locals leading to clash. After this fight however Mr. Singh who is reportedly TMC-backed attacked the college-going student and his mother.
A group armed with sticks and stones attacked the student near his home causing him serious injuries and he cried out for help attracting his mother’s attention. Subsequently, she also became their target resulting in some injuries.
8 arrests have been made so far by Belgharia police; two among which were made on July 3rd. However, the prime accused still remains untraced
Mr Sing is believed to be closely associated with Madan Mitra. TMC MLA hence photos shared on online platforms have him posing alongside Mr Madan Mitra’s son Subhorup Mitra daughter-in-law included.
“We don’t see any colour when something goes wrong but we deal with it”, said. Mr Madan Mitra during his visit to Ariadaha area in response to which he added that “I want all culprits to be locked up within 24 hours”, he told newsmen before leaving from there.”
Another claim made by Mr Singh’s brother was that his brother (Mr Singh) had nothing to do with the mob violence and that “all this was a conspiracy against them”. He further added that he had enough evidence including call recordings, if need be, to prove his brother’s innocence.
