The claims made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that ‘instead of ghee, animal fat was used in preparing the Prasadam at the Tirumala temple in 2019-24 when the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was in power, has turned into a big controversy, Lawyers of YSRCP placed it before a historical bench on 20th September, 2024 seeking investigation by a sitting judge or a Court appointed committee.
It was saddening for them at how the CM wanted such a serious allegation of YSRCP vitiating public trust in hospitals for a profit’s claim and further withheld pertinent particulars that the ghee Prasadam Laddu use is from animal fat. The Bench thereafter directed that such a PIL be filed by 25 September, on the grounds that it intends to hear arguments on that day.
T.T.D. Trust Board and Rajya Sabha member, former Chairman Y.V. Subbha Reddy along with other T.T.D Board members in a press briefing held on 19 September, declared that he would sue Mr. Naidu should Mr. Naidu fail to substantiate the accusations he made, which are serious to the credibility and integrity of the world temple. It was nothing but a dirty political game started by Mr. Naidu to defame Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said.
