The police have arrested three persons against whom an allegation of resorting to “serial killing using cyanide” has been leveled.
The three arresting officers, all three of them being as claimed, were identified as Munagappa Rajani (40), Mudiyala Venkateswari, alias Bujji (32), and Gontu Ramanamma (60) of Yadla Lingaiah Colony in Tenali, Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar told the media here on September 6 (Friday).
According to the police Venkateswari and Ramanamma had already committed three such atrocious activities whereas Rajani was a suspect in a case that has been solved recently.
As raw people who are ambitious of making money, the faction of the accused would seek petty loans from victims and kill them if they were not able to repay the dues. Since owing the amount was no more an option, the accused are claimed to have slain the victims with cyanide and plundered them of all their valuables in time.
There was a beginning of lifting an extremely decomposed body of approximately a 40 year old unknown woman on the outskirt of vadlamudi about two months ago. While the cause could not be determined at first, the police later discovered that the cause of death was cyanide poisoning.
The body was later found to be that of Shaik Nagoor Bi of Yadla Lingaiah colony, police said. Upon hearing her absence on June 5, Tameej reported to the police that his mother is absent as she went out on some important work. He also told the police that before her departure from the house, she had few conversations over the telephone with Rajani and Venkateswari.
The police then traced the autorickshaw driver, Mahesh, who was not only the transport hired by the accused but also the person who was used to bring liquor for the accused.
Accused have admitted the crime – Mr. Satish Kumar has narrated what his media told. He also said that Venkateswari and Ramanamma have previously murdered three persons using the same strategy and are now going to do away with two more.
Venkateswari had served as a ward volunteer in the last four years. Subsequently, when she purportedly went to Cambodia, she is said to have been engaged in cybercrime activities. She was in India for two months due to some medical problems, SP said.
