New Delhi: On Thursdays, Cantilal Boulia, a candidate for Lok Sabha promised something strangely. He was heard saying that if his party got to power, the two women who are married by one man will be paid 2 Lakhs.
Kantilal Bhuria is the Congress candidate for the People’s House in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. He has been an MP in five consecutive terms and served as a minister in UPA-2 government.
“Women in each family would get Rs1 lakh if our party comes into power,” said Ratlam’s Bria, Congress’ representative at the meeting.
“Every woman shall receive 1 lakh rupees in her bank account.” Our declaration says this if Congress takes office. For example, “Rs 100-100000 for every woman in the family”. Those with two wives will get Rs 2 lakh…”
Did congress mention giving money to a man with two wives?
The Manifesto of Congress does not include promises to give money to men who have more than one wife; it only pledges to implement Mahalaxmi Yojna; which according to them will provide financial assistance of Rs.1lakh per annum to “a poor woman.”
