Jason Williams, a homeowner in Chicago, thwarted burglary on Thursday by confronting the thief with a frying pan. The security camera captured the dramatic moment when Williams chased the suspect out of his Logan Square apartment at approximately 3:30 p.m.
While returning from work, he had received an alert from his alarm system and responded to it. Inside his home, Williams picked up a frying pan before running into the burglar who was coming down stairs.
However, despite trauma resulting from this incident, Williams told ABC7 that “At that point I felt fight or flight and I’d rather do the fighting.”
As Chicago police showed up at the scene right after that chase through the house and yard followed by capture of suspect across the street. Expressing concern over these steps taken by him, Williams admitted: “This could have had a different ending; I am glad it turned out well… My wife is not happy with my decision…I wouldn’t do it again probably but it is what it is.”
Chicago Police reported that a 33-year-old man forced his way into a home on Parker Street in West Logan Square and fought with its occupant who was 45 years old. In fact there were visible blows showing how during their scuffle between this trespasser and homeowner; frying pan fell onto him.
The intruder was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition while owner refused medical treatment.
