A day after being granted interim bail, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his wife Sunita met with the Punjab Chief Minister Minister Bhagwant Mann was on his way to Delhi to offer prayers at the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place before heading to Delhi to the party office.
Kejriwal along with party supremo Bhagwant Mann, Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Atishi, Saw Saurabh Bhardwaj, along with Imran Hussain, launched a scathing attack on the BJP. After praying at the Hanuman temple, Kejriwal said it was due to the blessings of Lord Hanuman that he came among people again. “Our party is only 10 years old. In ten years, we have formed governments in two states. However, the Prime Minister is doing everything possible to suppress AAP.” He said: “At one point they sent the four top leaders of our party to jail. When the four top leaders are jailed at the same time, any party will be crushed. They thought the party would be over, however, this is not a party , this is an ideology.”
The AAP office was packed with supporters and media persons, some of them even from abroad. The atmosphere mimicked that of an election victory with optimism, slogans raised and aloo puri and halwa served to the supporters.
The chief minister claimed that the prime minister knew that in the coming times, only AAP can challenge the BJP. “It’s not democracy when you don’t work but seek to suppress the AAP. In 75 years, no other political party’s leaders have been so heavily targeted as the AAP.” Kejriwal later questioned the BJP’s anti-corruption policies. “The most corrupt people in the country have been inducted into your party (BJP) and made chief minister and deputy chief minister, and yet you claim to be fighting corruption?”
Continuing his attack on the BJP, the AAP chief said: “Modi has embarked on a very dangerous mission of ‘one nation, one leader’ to wipe out the political careers of opposition leaders by sending them to jail. If They won the election, not that I believe they will win the election, you can get an affidavit from me, in a few days they will put Mamata Banerjee, Tejasvi Yadav, Stalin and his ministers Pinarayi Vijayan ascended to the presidency.
Kejriwal didn’t stop there. In order to exploit the balance of power within the BJP, the Chief Minister claimed that they (the Prime Minister) had eliminated Advani, Murli Mohan Joshi, Shivraj Singh Chouhan who had won the elections for them Political career. “The next target will be Yogi Adityanath. If they win the election, they will complete Yogi Adityanath in two months.”
Some of the placards held by supporters bore the slogan “Tanashahi ka ek ki kaal/ Kejriwal Kejriwal”. Kejriwal said, “Today, a tanashah is trying to take over the country. I plead with 1.4 billion people to save this country from this disaster.” Country. I am fighting with everything I have.”
Kejriwal then sought to answer a question that the BJP has posed to the opposition in these elections – “Who is your prime ministerial candidate?” “These people are asking the Gathbandhan of India who will be your prime ministerial candidate? I guess Ask the Bharatiya Janata Party, who will be your prime ministerial candidate? Next year, that is, on September 17, Prime Minister Modi will be 75 years old.” The Chief Minister of Delhi later said: “Modi is not fighting for votes for himself, but for Amit Shah. Who will fulfill Modi’s guarantees? Will Amit Shah fulfill Modi’s guarantees?”
AAP’s top correspondent and strategist claimed that the BJP will not get more than 220-230 seats and said the next government will be that of the Bloc India. “In many states, the number of seats is decreasing. The satta bazaar is also betting on 220-230 seats. In the centre, the Indian gathbandhan will form the government with the support of AAP. We will win full statehood for Delhi”.
The chief minister sought to clarify why he did not resign despite being behind bars. “When I was in jail, people raised the question of why I didn’t resign as chief minister. I didn’t have any desire for any post. When I was posted as income tax commissioner, I gave up my job and worked in the slums for many years. When When the people of Delhi first appointed me as chief minister, I resigned after 49 days because I could not fulfill my commitments. The post of chief minister did not mean anything to me.” Kejriwal later explained: “Why don’t I resign? For 75 years, elections have been held in many states. However, Delhi gave the AAP a historic mandate of 67 and 62 seats respectively. They knew that they could not in the next 20 years Defeat us in Delhi. They have hatched a conspiracy to put Kejriwal in jail and force him to resign. If you imprison democracy, even Hemant will escape. Soren should not resign either. He should also run the government from jail. By not resigning, I am fighting “tanashahi”.
The AAP office was packed with supporters and media persons. Kejriwal’s speech was indicative of his strategy in the Lok Sabha elections, which is to try to poke holes in the BJP’s big claims, especially on the issue of corruption, and find problems within the party’s internal power dynamics to make a case for himself Defended and echoed the opposition’s attack on the BJP “under democracy”.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that in Punjab, the Congress and the BJP will be wiped out and the AAP will win all 13 seats. His speech was interspersed with slogans from volunteer placards, “tanashah ka ek hi kaal/ Kejriwal, Kejriwal”, which was derived from “brashtachar ka ek hi kaal/ Kejriwal, Kejriwal”, “pachees magayi/BJP kaal/ Kejriwal, Kejriwal’, ‘pachees magayi/BJP’, ‘JP ‘BJP ka bura haal/Bahar aa gaye Kejriwal’, Mann claimed on June 4 that “the Indian alliance cannot form the government without AAP”. Targeting the Prime Minister, Mann said, “It is a shame that after 10 years of service, the Prime Minister has to demand votes in the name of Mangalsutra”.
Later in the day, Kejriwal and Mann hosted a roadshow in the South Delhi constituency in support of AAP candidate Sahiram Pehalwan. This is Kejriwal’s first election campaign after his release from prison. The narrow lanes of Mehrauli were crowded with AAP supporters waving the party’s yellow and blue flags, banners, posters emblazoned with ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ and the iconic song ‘Rang De’ blaring from the loudspeakers Basanti Chola”.
Pehalwan is on interim status along with AAP minister Saurabh Bhardwaj, MLA Rituraj Jha and others. A man can be seen holding a framed photo of the Preamble to the Constitution. As soon as the vehicle carrying Kejriwal and Mann arrived, AAP supporters and locals rushed to catch a glimpse of the Delhi chief minister, who had been in jail for 50 days.
Shopkeeper Ashish Jain said: “Modi will win. He has done a lot. He has deleted Article 370. There is no taka for the BJP”. “This is a Lok Sabha election. How many seats is he fighting for? It is better to vote for a national party, be it the Congress or the BJP,” said Sanjeev, a middle-class professional.
Munni Devi and Veena said they would vote for Kejriwal regardless of the consequences. “We will make our brother Kejriwal win. From 5 to 6 years old, bus travel is free. You can travel anywhere. Water is free, electricity is free. We get medicines for free at the Mohalla clinic. He has brought a lot to us. Modi may have done well outside, Kejriwal in Delhi”.
Dr. Shyam, another resident, said he has confidence in Modi. “Modi has done something that the Congress and other parties combined could not do. Be it internal security or external threats. In Mehrauli, I had bomb blasts in front of me and I dealt with those patients. After Modi , there will be peace.”
However, they agreed that Kejriwal’s release on bail at this time would affect the outcome of the election. While Munni Devi and Veena said this would “definitely impact” the results, Dr Shyam and Sanjeev said it would have “some impact”. “His getting interim bail will definitely affect the public. Even if they don’t let him out, Kejriwal will come because he works for development, respects women and the elderly… he is a krantiveer,” Veena said.
Last week, the chief minister’s wife Sunita Kejriwal hosted a roadshow in Tughlakabad, pitting AAP’s Pehalwan against the BJP’s Ramvir Bidhuri. At the end of the program, Kejriwal said that he missed the people of Delhi while serving his sentence in jail and appealed to them to defeat the ‘Tanashahi’ and promised to form an Indian Union government in which AAP will be a part of Delhi and become a complete state of Delhi — everything he said in the party office a few hours ago. Later, the two went to the East Delhi constituency for the second roadshow of the day.
