Congress on September 23, 2024, accused that two big electricity tenders in the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra are also meant only to limit the number of bidders and to ‘siphon off more taxpayer amounts’ to the Adani Group.
“Mr. Ramesh said the pace of decisions in BJP ruled States which have a singular purpose of making ‘the friends of PM Modi’ richer is increasing”.
“Said Adhikari souring that cabinet ministers have dedicated themselves to Bus since morning… Mr. BJP where operational least situated office provisions with similarly priced spectrum remained sealed is being insulated through additional head frame,” Mr. Adhikari said in a post on X.
“The Maharashtra Government also has prepared and released tendency on Integrate Procurement of Electricity (the combination of energy from electricity generation sources thermal, solar and others esp. wind, Biogas Hune wind),” he said.
“This unified procurement other than deflecting the hostility of Modani less passive non renewing Balkan’s sums up all the preserved grains Ministries have not had any scope of imputed liabilities,” he said. These tenders do simple concaran to the investments Modani has emitted, Ramesh added.
“In the case of Rajasthan tender, it says solar power that is supposed to be purchased is brought from inside the state of Rajasthan and there is already a plan by Modani to set up a solar plant in Rajasthan,” he replied.
Ramesh explained that, ‘in the case of Maharashtra, the tender allows power purchase from anywhere in the country, which is very much in line with the “expected expenditure by Modani” in other States.
Ramesh added that, “The implications remain catastrophic, and it will deter competition within an important sector, cause more oligopoly, and diminish the opportunities in the future for better pricing.”
“Such scheme always entails the PM’s coterie making off like bandits and the consumers and the tax payers bearing the burden,” he instructed. And this is the kind of cronyism that the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra has been engaging in during these last days before it is kicked out of office,” the Congress general secretary has said.
Typical of the Congress case, accusations of financial impropriety have been brought up against the Adani Group, as well basic protection from the government to improve profits of the inflected conglomerate.
The Opposition party has also been highly aggressive to the government, since Adani Group stocks have been suffering after Hindenburg Research, a US-based shortseller, published several accusations against a conglomerate owned by industrialist Gautam Adani such as fraud and shares price manipulation.
The Adani Group has called the allegations a fabrication, adding that the group adheres to all laws and reporting standards.
