On June 24, 2024, Junior Doctors at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad shouted slogans as they began their strike.
The meaning of the chants at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday was “Raavali Raavali, Chief Minister Raavali” (The Chief Minister should come), while striking Telangana junior doctors continued for the second day.
On the previous day, some progress had been made on their demands but it was not enough to end the strike; they would continue with it till their demands are documented officially.
Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Hospital were also affected by strikes. In the afternoon hours of Tuesday, doctors assembled outside the superintendent’s chamber at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and chanted slogans there. “There are a lot of doctors available here still without any expansion facilities,” said OGH doctors. “We require precise governmental plans not obscure assurances. It has to be inaugurated,” one more doctor added.
Gandhi hospital at Secundrabad expressed similar thoughts about this issue. “But there is no such thing as an unimportant demand among these eight that we have given to government officials who want us to prioritise them when we meet them,” said Dr G Sai Sri Harsha, who is President of Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA).
Dr Harsha explained that unless a Government Order is passed regarding new hostel buildings assured by Health Minister and Director of Medical Education (DME) along with road repairs at Kakatiya Medical College Warangal and introduction of college buses this strike will persist.
